"All
That Glitters is Dead", by The Erotics, is one
of The Rock Explosion fav 2003 albums. The following
is an interview realized with vocalist and guitar player
Mike Trash. Read it and spread the explosion...
Hi Mike! I don't ask you if your
really last name is Trash 'cause i read on your website
that is the stupid frequently question they ask to you,
so don't worry! Tell us where do you come from and how
were the erotics made up, it started as a side project
if i'm not wrong...
I'm come from Albany NY. Yes The Erotics started as
a side project.
I Think you've had several problems
with the old line-up, why so many changes? Do you still
hear the Erotics old members? How is with Billy Belaire
and Mickey King?
Certain people left or got fired for different reasons,
no need to air out the dirty laundry about it. Yes,
I still hear from old members once in a while. It's
great with Billy and Mick, they've been in the band
for over 2 years now.
Are you going to replace Uzi
or you will continue with the 3 members line-up engaging
all the guitars parts?
We are happy as a 3 piece, I was actually a guitarist,
way before I ever became a singer, so I have no problem
handling the parts.
Why the Fastlane Records didn't
publish your last work? You simply decided to leave
or what?
We wanted to put it out ourselves, nothing personal
with them.
What about Cacophone Records?
We reformed Cacophone, with the original owners of the
label.
Your music seems directly linked
to great past myths like: Alice Cooper, Motley Crue,
Kiss, New York Dolls and Guns 'n' Roses. Would you like
to say anything about them?
I was influenced by the best, but I think we have formed
our own sound from it.
On "All that glitter is
dead" you reprise something from your first album
or I'm wrong?
No, you're not wrong, we rerecorded "Helen Keller",
changed the the title to "Only Girl For Me",
just to fuck with everybody.
Why this decision?
The reason, is because the band is lot more popular
now, than we we're on the first album, and we wanted
to give the song the proper regognition it deserved.
What's the meaning behind the
title "All that glitter is dead"?
It's about a super modle type glamorus life, than ends
up not so glamourus.
I find your last record more
mature and accurated than the previous two but the spirit
and your punk'n'roll attitude seems to be the same.
What has changed in you during these years?
The first album was kind of a joke/side project for
fun. Then I decided to play, my "style" again,
which is part of the reason that line-up, disbanded.
How do you write your songs?
I don't know! I can't explain it, it just happens.
Here's the Rock 'n' Roll scene,
now seems to get born again, as in Sweden exploded in
the last years, how is the scene in New York?
New York sucks!
Recentely you've been on-stage
with Bret Michaels, can you tell us, if there is, something
about it?
I was a great show, I also played with David Lee Roth
recently.
What are the best memories about
your last tour?
I can't tell you, because I'll get in trouble!
What about internet and the sharing
of complete mp3 cd's, do you allow it or not?
That's a tough question, It hurts, just as much as it
helps.
The Rock Explosion question,
the best album you have ever heard, your favourite drink,
your favourite porn star and the fastest car in the
world...
Too many albums to mention, tequila, the ones I've fucked,
red cars are the fastest.
You should be a tatoo lover,
there's one you like particulary?
The one one my right forearm!
Ok Mike, last comments, thanks,
insults or anything else you want...
Thanks for the questions, and good luck with The Rock
Explosion!
