Joacim (bass) and Diddi
(vocals) from the swedish legend Bai Bang have answered
to our questions. A long career seems to haven't decrease
their wild passion. The power of rock continues to flow
unstoppable in their veins!
It is now 4 years from your latest
release 'Attitude', how are things at the moment? Any
news? When can we listent to another album of Bai Bang?
Advance information...
Joacim: Hi, everything`s
great exept that Dave`s still injured and Mikkie that
used to be in the band are playing lead guitar now.
Diddi: We are currently
writing new songs and doing some pre-productions...
Your albums have always been
realesed with a distance of 4 or 5 years, why do you
take this plenty of time to get a new album?
Diddi: Record labels are
sometimes hard to work with and are waiting for their
"right moments".
Listening to 'Ridin High' I felt
in love with your ballad 'Little Child', what did inspire
this song? How much important are feelings in your composition?
Diddi: I
wrote it for my son...
Joacim: It´s only
rock'n'roll and we don`t write much about certain feelings,
but we did it in this song...We can`t save the whales
and so on so we`re leaving that to bands like U2...
From a electric side of your
songs I would name 'I want it' and the most recent 'Welcome
to the real world', 'Home sweet home'... great anthem
songs! Which one is your composing procedure you mostly
use? Is there a main songeriter or is ita team work?
Joacim: We`re often work
as a team but sometimes we works with others as well...
Your album have been realised
from different labels, with different covers in order
to the different destinations. Why did you never find
a stable relation with an highly qualified label? Don't
you think this situation had, in some ways, damaged
you?
Diddi: Variation is always
good, both in the musicbusiness and in your real life...
Which album of Bai Bang did sell
more copies?
Diddi: "Attitude"
sold the most, but the single "Little Child"
also sold good...
Catchy melodies, perfect voice,
grasping chorus. Which are the band from the past that
mostly influenced you in approaching this sound?
Joacim: Thanks, the list
is long but we like bands like: Kiss, Aerosmith, Def
Leppard, Mötley and so on...
Many Swedish bands just follow
the steps of Backyard Babies, Hardcore Superstar, Hellacopters,
Marylism. Which is your opinion about this new wave
of bands?
Joacim: We like those bands
a lot and our next album will be little more agressive
and heavier but still with catchy melodies...
What do you think about the re-union
of your fellow countrymen Europe?
Joacim: The more bands
that play our kind of music the better it is, there`s
a lot of crap on MTV nowdays...
At your back there's a huge serie
of live concertsall around the world. Which are the
main differences amongst american, japanese and european
fans?
Diddi: All hard rock fans
are the best crowd all over the world and we are looking
forward to meet the Italian fans...
You also shared the stage with
heaps of bands: Union, Pretty Maids, Thin Lizzy, Saxon,
Axel Rudy Pell, Marillion, Ratt, Dio, Alice Cooper and
others. Is there someone with whom you became friends
or that you feel, for some reason, closer to?
Joacim: We became very
good friends with Union and the guys from Alice Cooper,
we did 2 tours with Union and we hanged out with Jamie
and Brent when we played in the Usa. We did one tour
with Glamnation, it`s the same guys that are playing
with Cooper so we became very good friends with them
aswell, we jammed with Ryan Roxie and his friends Gilby
Clarke, Stephan Addika, Jason Bonham and Slim Jim at
the Cat club in L.A....
You merged hard rock with classic
music during a show with Helsinborg Symphony Orchestra.
Why did you take this decision and which are the feeling
you can make alive reminding that moment?
Diddi: It was a blast,
we`ve got the idea when we played with the Kairo Symphonic
Orchestra in Egypt and took the idea to our hometown
Helsingborg and they loved it. It was huge...
From your website I must suppose
you really like L.A. girls! No...just joking! What can
you tell us about your experience in the world of 80s'
glam metal, I've reason to think you have positive memories!!!
Joacim: Thanks (laugh),
we loved the 80s`and we are hoping it all will come
back like it was back then with the L.A. scene and all...
Which are the main aspects you
love of your 'on the road' life, and which are the worste?
Diddi: We love to tour,
everything is great, to play off course and all the
girls, beers, smirnoff ice and Jack Daniels, the worst
thing is when we don`t have anything to drink (laugh).
You partecipated for 3 times
at 'Wacken Open Air Festival'. Id there amongst this
experiences one you remember more positively. If so,
can you explain why?
Joacim: It`s always fun
to play at festivals and Wacken especially, we hope
to do many festivals this year, maybe in Italy!!!
If I'm right, you're going to
be the support band for L.A.Guns during their Swedish
tour but what I really want to know is if we, your Italian
fans, will have soon the opportunity to see you live
in our country...
Joacim: That`s right, we`re
doing some shows with them in 2 weeks. We are working
with a guy in Italy now who is promoting some gigs for
us, so hopefully as soon as possible...
Which could be your advice for
younger bands e artists to stay alive in the hard rock
scene for al long time, like you are doing?
Joacim: Never loose your
faith in rock'n`roll and never give up...
Favourite porn star, drink and
top 5 albums of ever...
Joacim: Jenna Jameson,
Whiskey or beer, Mötley Crue with Corabi and Dr
Feelgood, Kiss "Destroyer", Union "The
Blue Room", Alice Cooper "Brutal Planet"
and Guns'n'Roses "Appetite for Destruction",
there`s lots more but this is what i can come up with
right now.
Diddi: Jenna Jameson, Jack
Daniels&Cola, Thin Lizzy "Live n dangerous",
Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith "Pump", "Boys
in the Attic", Def Leppard "Hysteria".
Ok guys, the interview is gonna
finished. After years of conquers, grasp the adoration
of Italians rock girls...say bye to them in your best
way...
Joacim: We love Italian
girls and we`re really looking forward to meet ya all
sooooooooon... Amore!!!
